My tips for winning my February Contest

Date February 13, 2008

Someone is going to win the February Contest, but you can do a lot to make that someone YOU!

I’ve tried to put all of the rules and conditions clearly in the contest page, but you might get some benefit from reading the original post as well.

But here are my tips for maximising your entries and therefore your chance of winning:

  • Subscribe by email - you can’t have a valid entry without doing this.
  • Stay subscribed - I am counting the entries when the contest closes on February 29th, 23:59:59, server time. (US time somewhere)  You must still be subscribed at that time to have a valid entry.
  • Comment in the original post page telling me (and everyone) that you’ve entered.  This gives you another entry (not everyone has done this).  And tell me your name (or screen name) so I can announce you if you win :)
  • Get a link code from the February Contest page.  There is a little form there that will give you a link to track anyone you refer.  If a person clicks the link, and then signs up within a week, YOU will get two bonus entries.
  • Blog about the contest on your blog.  And when you do - use the link code you got from the previous step.  It’s so easy, but not everyone is doing that.
  • Drop your Entrecard everyday.  I often drop on the blogs that drop here, so at the least you will pick up one or two EC every day.  But if you are in the top 3 droppers at month end, and you’ve entered - you get five bonus entries.
  • Add this blog to your blogroll - 5 entries - so easy!
  • Favourite me in Technorati.  Another 5 entries!
  • Write an Entrecard recommendation - Yet another 5 entries!
  • If your site is in the top 3 referrers to the site (traffic referrals, not signups) you also get a bonus 5 entries!
  • And did I mention commenting - 1 comment, 1 entry;  5 comments, 2 entries; 10 comments, 3 entries.  That is cumulative everyone!  So post 10 non-spammy productive comments and get 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 bonus entries!  You’ll also stand a good chance of hitting my top commenters list for a bit of link love.  So why wouldn’t you join in the discussion.

So good luck everyone and remember, you might as well try for a few more entries - it only takes a minute, but it will put you ahead of the rest.
